Barcelona chair is with a permenant glamour, but really a simple style. It is composed of only two parts, one is the frame, and the other

is the cushions.

Stainless Steel Frame and Microfiber Straps

The first step of making a barcelona chair is in frames and straps.

To make the frame, we need to buy the rolled steel, and get it shaped in the machine, this is the first procedure strating from raw material.

Then next, workers will weld it to be a complete frame by hand, and get it through further procedures of polishing, grinding and repeatly.

As rolled steel is around $1500/ton, a frame of around 20kg will cost around $30. The following 4-5 procedures will increase this initial cost to

be around $80-90.

There are many ways to save cost in this step, for example, reduce the polishing procedures, or using hallow frames, which can

make thetotal cost at only arond $50-60, this is quite hard to be seen from outside at the first period after you bought it,

but there will be big problems after some time---the frame can be easily get rusty or get sink.

So a normal cost of the Chair frame is $90. After the frame is finished, we will need to install the straps into the frame, and add packing,

which will cost around $15-30 based on different colors.

That is why we sell a frame at $115, which is already the bottom factory price of a qualified chair frame.

Cushions of Leather

Next step, we will make the cushions for the chair.

The cushions is composed of leather, sponge, pipings, buttons, locking straps on the back.

Leather takes the main part of making the cushions. There are many categories of leather in the market, from different dying and layers,

but normally there are 4 kinds of leather: PU leather (synthentic leather, real calf (normaly produced in China), Italian leather

(imported from Italy), Aniline leather.

Workers are making cushions by cutting the leather and sewing them together as the first step.

The cheapest leather is PU leather of all. And for PU leather, there are low and high grade. If using the PU leather to make the full cushions,

it is around $70 for the 2 cushions (including a back cushion and a seat cushion), with the high grade PU leather. If using the low grade

PU leather, the cost can be as low as $35, but this leather can be easily broken after 6 months, though from the outside view, it is exactly

the same between the two when finished newly.  If you are attracted by something chairs with very low price, you are 100% getting the

bad leather making of the cushions.

High Density Sponge

After the cushion cover is finish, then we will fill it with sponge, and stitch the buttons, and the whole set then will be completed fully.

A bad sponge which is made from the recycling cottons can be 80% cheaper than high density sponge. But we use high density sponge,

never bad ones. It is very easy for you to see, just open the zipper on the cushions. It looks like this, and bad sponge is as this.

If using high density, the cost is around $10/ft while using normal or bad sponge, the cost is less than $5.

All our cushions are with full and plump style,and will never be sunk easily even after long time and repeated usage.
